Bleach: Review
In some ways I envy those folk who enjoy the pure shounen genre. Every week they can enjoy and episode of Naruto or One Piece, along with all those older shounens such as Yu Yu Hakusho, Inuyasha or D Gray-Man. And then there’s Bleach, which does everything it’s genre requires and does it with flair and finesse but it also get’s bogged down for doing exactly what it’s genre entails, which includes long, drawn-out fights, fillers and extremely dull flashbacks.
School Rumble: Review
You ready? So Eri thinks she likes Harima but everyone thinks Harima is going out with Yakumo because he gets he to proof-read his manga secretly which makes Hanai angry because he likes Yakumo even though people think he would be better suited to his childhood friend Mikito but Imadori likes Mikito’s D-cup so much that he doesn’t notice that Ichijo so she gets romantic advice off Temna but Temna isn’t exactly great at romance as she can’t spot that Harima is in love with her because she is in love with Karasuma who is in love with…curry?

Hilarity ensues.
Outlaw Star: Review
I have seen Outlaw Star described as a poor mans Cowboy Bebop, which I suppose is true to a certain extent. However I think it would be more accurate to describe it as a young mans Cowboy Bebop as most of it’s faults are stuff that wouldn’t bother a younger viewer while older and more cultured anime nerds would get annoyed at.

Mushishi: Review
If you wanted to sound like a cultured anime fan, amongst your favorite anime you would include Mushishi. Mushishi gives off an impression of being deep, serious, though-provoking and possibly quite dull to the casual anime fan to actually watch. My aim with this review is not only to proclaim the greatness of Mushishi but also to convince you that you don’t have to be a snobby elitist to enjoy it.

Kannagi: Review
If I was to pick my favorite genre (and I will, since it’s my review and there’s nothing you can do to stop me) it would be comedy. I love a good laugh so much so that if a certain show has such a good sense of humour, whenever it focuses on plot the show actually becomes dull. Kannagi is a prime example of this. When it focuses on being humorous, it’s side-splittingly funny. But when it focuses on the plot you’re yawning and waiting for the next joke.

When you ask an anime fan ‘which is the most confusing/weird/mindfucking anime out there’ you will nearly always get this answer: Serial Experiments Lain. Even after all these years there are still people harping on about Lain. It’s a bit of a shock, and a shame, for me that it turned out to not be very interesting at all.

Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei is an anime that takes one very good joke platform and uses it over and over until they have squeezed every last drop humour you could possibly get from it. Then they go ahead and make a second season of the exact same material, which is when this show finally gets boring. But for the earlier episodes at least SZS can be very astute and very funny.

You often hear of a show that is carried by one character. However there are also shows that are damaged simply by the existence of one character. Yozakura Quartet would have been a far better show if Enjin just did not exist!

For many, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann was a glorious return to the good old days of mecha where men were real men, women were real women and small furry creatures who could inexplicably pilot a giant robot despite the fact they had no arms were real small furry creatures who could inexplicably pilot a giant robot despite the fact they had no arms.

For me however, TTGL was my first mecha anime so I had a slightly different view of the series. And, despite being a bit silly, it passed with flying colours and quickly became one of my favorite anime.

Moyashimon is practically a genre by itself. The main idea behind is the main character can see microbes. You know, bacteria and mold and such. So full points go to originality anyway. But this show is great fun and, you would never have expected this, but bacteria are so unbelievably cute!
